Demystifying Title III Grants - The White Whale of Community Colleges
Title III grants were spoken of in hushed tones - the white whale of grants, an unknowable beast of consequence.
Title III refers to the U.S. Department of Education Strengthening Institutions Program grants. These are five-year grants of up to $450,000 a year, for a total of $2.25M. Title III grants are not like any other grants available. As the name implies, they are intended to strengthen your institution in the distinct ways that your college or university seeks to address retention and graduation goals. This makes Title III grants extremely unique, but highly competitive. Title III grant competitions occur biennially, and winning grants generally receive a perfect or near-perfect score.
